St. John’s Military Veteran’s Ministry put on their first Charity Golf Tournament for Soldier’s Best Friend with the help of many volunteers from the congregation. Scout Troop 365 participated in the Flag Raising Ceremony to kick off the tournament. Checkin started at 6:30 a.m. and raffle tickets were sold through the morning. A lot of hard but fun work went in to making this tournament a success in just 8 short weeks.

Soldier’s Best Friend, our inspiration!

Soldier’s Best Friend provides U.S. military veterans living with combat-related Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) with Service or Therapeutic Companion Dogs, most of which are rescued from local shelters. The veteran and dog train together to build a trusting relationship that saves two lives at once and inspires countless others. All this at no cost to eligible veterans. A trained service dog costs around $8,500. We reached our goal to match a service dog to a deserving veteran.
